‘Tis the season

Last May, I wrote about the best bread / tomato / olive oil combos.

I stand by that list, but it’s now August, and if you’re drowning in tomatoes, first of all, YAY YOU, that’s a pretty tasty way to die, and second, if you want to mix it up a little, this is, hands down, the best way to use up a surfeit* of tomateys: Tomato (JalapeƱo) Cobbler from Epicurious (tip: recipe can be doubled but bakes best as written, so use two separate dishes if you’re hungry).

* of “dearth” and “surfeit,” I can never remember which one means too much, and which one too little but I looked it up and got it right this time
